Transfer Domain from GoDaddy to Bluehost

Having domain registered on one account and hosting on another can create a lot of hustle but still it is advisable to have Domain Name Registered and Hosting Plan on different accounts as it minimizes the loss event of account corruption or disruption.

To use your GoDaddy domain with Bluehost hosting all you need to do is change the nameservers of your domain to point to your Bluehost account.

If you are from India then your nameservers will be

NS1.bluehost.in

NS2.bluehost.in

and If you are from US then the nameservers used will be

NS1.bluehost.com

NS2.bluehost.com

STEP 1: Login to your Godaddy Account. Select the domain which you want to use.

STEP 2: Click on Manage DNS (as shown in fig. below.)

STEP 3: Go to Nameservers option and click on change.

STEP 4: Click on Advance Option (as shown below).

Copy the nameservers from above depending on the location and paste it in the block provides and Click on Save Button.

Now Login to your Bluehost Hosting Account.

STEP 1: Go to the Domain Section and Click on Assign Domain.

STEP 2: Once you click on Assign, this popup will appear.

Enter you domain in the block as shown in the above fig.

STEP 3: It will automatically check your name servers and approve it.
Note: It can also show error if the nameservers added are not correct.

STEP 4: Select Addon Domain.

STEP 5: Chose Addon Directory and Sub-directory, It will automatically create a new one based on your domain.

STEP 6: Click on SAVE button.

One all this are done refresh your Bluehost page and your domain will be reflected in the domain section, you can use it from there to host a website.
